Debbie, working in healthcare since 1987, has become a recognized advocate for the rights of seniors choosing to remain independent in their own homes. She joined Home Attendant Care in 1997, and worked to establish the company’s reputation for fast responses and quality in-home care. Debbie naturally assumed a leadership role in the company followed by majority ownership in 2006. Today she oversees the day-to-day direction of HAC, has served as the treasurer of Alzheimer’s Society of Washington and serves on the board of Elder Service Providers of Bellingham. Debbie continually strives to educate seniors and their families about health care issues and teaches classes at Whatcom Community College and Skagit Valley Hospital. Because of her contributions to the local community, Debbie was selected as the Whatcom Women in Business 2009 Professional Woman of the Year. Outside of her passion for caregiving, Debbie enjoys camping, playing soccer, cooking and entertaining friends. She is often seen accompanied by her dog, Rugby, whom you may occasionally find asleep on her desk.

Katie: RN Case Manager

After graduating with an English and Anthropology degree from the University of Illinois, Katie quickly decided that she wanted to go back to nursing school. While taking her nursing courses, she worked as a nursing assistant and med tech in assisted living and memory care facilities. Upon completing her nursing degree in Michigan and getting her RN license, Katie moved to Washington and worked as a nurse for Emeritus at Montclair Park in Poulsbo before moving to Bellingham to take the Resident Care Director position at Emeritus at Fairhaven. After a brief trip to work in Ghana, she joined the team at Home Attendant Care as RN Case Manager. “Geriatrics is truly my passion, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help this population live comfortably and safely at home”. Katie volunteers her time working with the Alzheimer Society of WA and spends much of her leisure time enjoying all that the beautiful PacNW has to offer.
Paula: Care Coordinator, Skagit/San Juan/Island Co.

Paula joined HAC in 1994 and is responsible for managing schedules and supervising caregivers on a daily basis. She is an elder advocate and often serves as a liaison between clients, families and caregivers. Paula performs on-site evaluations, caregiver trainings, and helps ensure compliance with State regulations. She has worked with the senior population for many years and has become a specialist in geriatric issues that include dysfunctional living situations and working with those afflicted with Alzheimer’s or other forms of Dementia. Scrapbooking, reading and church activities are a few things Paula likes to do when not assisting seniors.

Katie (Katie J) is our Care Coordinator at the Bellingham location. Her past experiences in a senior/memory care community, as well as her personal upbringing are an asset to our caregivers as well as our clients and their loved ones. “I was raised by a family that believes in keeping the grandparents in the home and to care for them as a group. Working for Home Attendant Care allows my personal beliefs to be a reality in my work life. I couldn’t be happier doing what I do as their Care Coordinator.”
Aubrey: Scheduling Coordinator – all counties

Aubrey helps schedule client services, monitor customer satisfaction and support our caregivers. She first started working as a caregiver in the state of Oregon in 2006 and her experience and ability to work with challenging clients and those with dementia is an asset to our caregivers as well as our clients and their loved ones. Aubrey joined Home Attendant Care in the summer of 2010. In February of 2014 Aubrey took on the role of On-call Support Staff and then assumed the position of Scheduling Coordinator in early 2015. When away from HAC, she and her partner Troy keep themselves busy raising their 5 children as well as camping and playing in the dirt on their 4-wheelers.
Sharon: Human Resources / Office Manager

Sharon, Human Resources Manager, is an LPN who figured out early in her career that home care is where she belonged. She is passionate about helping people stay at home for as long as they desire. Sharon has worked as a Home Health Nurse and Case Manager for home care agencies in both Skagit and Whatcom counties for nearly 30 years. She is excited to continue her involvement with HAC clients and their families in a new way, providing support, encouragement and training to caregivers and staff. “Quality of life for our clients is of utmost importance to me and I am excited to be part of a team that will help seniors to remain in the comfort of their homes while enabling them to continue to do the activities that they enjoy.” Sharon lives in Ferndale with her husband and 2 small dogs and they have two grown daughters whom they dearly love.
Cynthia: Finance Manager

Cynthia joins our team as Financial Manager with over 30 years bookkeeping experience. She has owned her own business for the past 23 years and also taught evening classes at BTC for a few years. Over the past 20 years, Cynthia has volunteered many hours at the local schools and served as financial manager for Assumption’s Boy Scout Troop. Cynthia and her husband, Konrad, have two grown sons who are college students and also live in Bellingham. The family has one beloved cat. During her free time, Cynthia enjoys traveling, boating, walking, reading, watching movies, visiting with friends and family game night. Both Cynthia’s mom and grandmother were caregivers and she knows that it takes a special person to help care for others in such an important time of their lives. As a young girl, Cynthia spent quite a few summer days with her grandmother, Lena, playing puzzles, helping feed and visiting with the patients at the retirement home in Reedley, CA where her grandmother worked. She’s excited to meet every one of our caregivers and hopes to make a positive difference at Home Attendant Care.
Shelby: Administrative Assistant

Shelby is HAC’s administrative assistant who supports the case management team within the Bellingham office.
Rugby: Valued Team Member
Rugby was born on Mother’s day in 2008 and has been part of the Home Attendant Care team ever since. Caregivers love giving him treats in exchange for seeing his repertoire of tricks. He also helps to spread joy to the office staff especially in times of stress.
